- Proposed applicants will be reviewed by Panels from the Friends of Saint Patrick and reviewed by the Saint Patrick Centre.
- Successful Applicants will be notified and specific travel arrangements made.
June 1st - 15th 2009 (this may vary a day or so either way)
- A 14 day programme will be delivered from 1st June – 15th June 2009 Accommodation will be provided in the heart of Saint Patrick’s Country at shared en-suite accommodation at the edge of the Irish Sea in Dundrum, Co Down. During this time the Young Ambassadors will work through their respective projects with bespoke mentoring made available. They will experience the culture of both traditions, be briefed by political parties, visit cultural sites and experience the cross community and reconciliation work being done by the Saint Patrick Centre and other organisations.
- Completion of Individual Projects and Assessment.
August 2010
- Involvement in Irish Fair, Minnesota, Irish Fest La Crosse and Milwaukee Irish Fest.
September 2010
- Involvement in Pittsburgh Irish Festival, Irish Classic, Bethlehem Penn.
Winter 2010 / Spring 2011
- On-going involvement with Friends Groups
Outputs
It would be hoped that the output of the Program would be :
- A broader appreciation of Northern Ireland, its diverse communities and particularly a greater general understanding of the language and culture of the Province and of the shared heritage.
- continued association with the cultural agencies through the Friends of Saint Patrick Chapters.
- delivery of this message to schools and colleges in North America.
- Representation at events either as speakers talking about their experience or facilitating and volunteering for representatives of the Agencies who may come themselves.
- Provision of a number of written projects for press or other interested organisations which illustrate the visit, its benefits and how greater understanding was achieved
